Memory Care Collection
As part of a new Memory Care Collection we are working on for patrons with dementia, other related cognitive concerns, and their care partners, you can now check out Memory Care books by Emma Rose Sparrow, Ouisi photo card games, and you can also choose from our 5 Memory Care kits.

Books by Emma Rose Sparrow
Emma Rose Sparrow created these books for dementia patients when both of her parents were diagnosed with the disease. Her mother, a lifelong bookworm, reached a point in the disease where she could no longer read the books on her bookshelf. As she searched for books that would offer a solution, the only choice was to obtain a children's book. So, she created books for dementia patients and their care partners herself. The reader is able to read 2-3 short sentences at a time. Each book contains a 7 chapter story that is interesting and pleasant with a touch of humor thrown in. Large text (16x font), short chapters, and short paragraphs with one extra space between each sentence encourage the mind to take pause. One or two vivid color photos per each short chapter give a visual clue to the subject matter without distracting the read. All books in this series have adult main characters that the reader will relate to. Sparrow contributes a portion of her earnings to the National Alzheimer's Association, the world's leading health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Memory Care Kits
We have two sock matching activity kits and three different game kits. Each kit comes with a binder full of information on how to use the kits and much more. Copies of all of the handouts in the informational binder are available upon request at the Information Desk on the 2nd floor. There is also an informational binder available for check out on its own without having the check out a kit.
