Girls Who Code:
This is a national non-profit working to close the gender gap in technology. Our Clubs are free programs for 3-5th and 6-12th grade girls to use computer science to impact their community and join our sisterhood of supportive peers and role models. Sessions will be held weekly. Please choose what session (time/day of week) works best for your schedule and continued attendance.
A weekly code club for ages 8 to 12 years old to explore Scratch, HTML and a variety of coding experiences
MakerSpace Book Club:
The concept of becoming a maker is to have the wherewithal to face challenges and use design processing to overcome them. Learn more about how challenges can be met through reading fiction and processing ideas to solve character problems. Ages 10-16, weekly.
Micro Minute Challenge:
Come in and check the bulletin board for a mini challenge and then use Micro bit programming to find a solution. This is an independent challenge and can be for all ages with family/friend assistance. Follow instructions on the challenge card to submit your challenge. The challenge will remain posted thru the day on select Thursdays and the most creative solution will be posted the following week on Facebook. (You will only be identified if a photo released is signed.)
This program will be held monthly but follow a guided learning experience so it is best to commit to all 4 programs to complete the workbook.
Ages 10 and up.
Lil Coders: Ages 3-6 will learn the concepts behind coding, such as movement and process. These sessions include very little computer use but will emphasize physical activity, limiting screen time, and computer safety.
This monthly program for ages 6-8 will introduce the Makey Makey, an invention kit for the 21st century. Turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet. It's a simple Invention Kit for Beginners and Experts doing art, engineering, and everything in between. We will focus on conductivity, challenges, and “board game” creation.
